  • 2006

    RigQuip’s drilling equipment and engineering business is launched as a subsidiary of engineering company, Hitec Products Drilling AS. The business becomes the exclusive Europe representative of US manufacturer Letourneau Technologies Inc, including brands LEWCO and Oilfield Electric Marine (OEM).

  • 2007

    RigQuip’s service business is launched carrying out inspection, service and recertification of drilling equipment. The RigQuip brand, a former trademark of Noble Drilling UK and later National Oilwell Inc is acquired.

  • 2008

    RigQuip’s parts and expendables business is launched in partnership with LeTourneau Technologies Inc as the business begins to stock drilling equipment parts and expendables for worldwide delivery.

  • 2010

    RigQuip delivers major engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning project for Talisman’s Auk platform in the UK North Sea. RigQuip’s drilling equipment and engineering business conducts a management buyout and becomes an independent company following equity fund Hitec Vision’s purchase of Hitec Products Drilling AS.

  • 2011

    RigQuip engaged by Frontier Drilling (now Noble Drilling) to oversee state-of-the-art multi-purpose tower drillships Bully 1 and Bully 2. Responsibilities included decision making on behalf of owner, design & operation reviews, drilling controls, integration, testing and commissioning support, RigQuip businesses merge to become the trading entity they are today – a global competitor to the major OEMs in new equipment, engineering, inspection and recertification, and parts.

  • 2012

    RigQuip launches its own range of drilling equipment parts & expendables following acquisition of Letourneau Technologies Inc by Cameron.

  • 2014

    RigQuip delivers major engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning project for SBM Offshore in Brazil. RigQuip wins the Business Insider Fastest Growing Scottish SME 2014 award.

  • 2016

    RigQuip delivers engineering and drilling package project for Helix Energy Solutions well intervention vessels Siem 1 & Siem 2 in the Netherlands.

  • 2017

    RigQuip becomes the worlds first API Q2 certified drilling equipment inspection, repair and recertification organisation.

  • 2018

    RigQuip establishes its Middle East and North Africa base in Dubai, RigQuip FZE.

  • 2020

    RigQuip Inc is established. RigQuip drills ahead with US expansion with Houston division, investing in larger premises and appointing two new US technical directors to manage its international operations.

  • 2021

    RigQuip signs Memorandum of Understanding with Zamil Shipyards to open a base in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. The collaboration offers both companies’ clients drilling equipment inspection and service, combined with berthing and full maintenance, repair, and operating shipyard services.

  • 2021

    RigQuip celebrates 15 years after growing from a small, privately owned Aberdeen business to a firm with multiple global locations servicing clients across the world.
