Automation Engineer

FOR IMMEDIATE START

We’re currently on the lookout for an Automation Engineer to support various projects as well as offshore installation, commissioning and maintenance support for various types of drilling rig control equipment.

The position will be office, workshop, on-site and offshore based. Continued training will be offered and encouraged.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engineering, installation, commissioning, repair of drilling equipment control systems
  • Reviewing and commenting on control system equipment specifications
  • Keeping up to date with latest electrical control standards and specifications
    Attending project meetings with internal and external customers and suppliers
  • Survey electrical control systems (onshore/offshore) and production of survey reports
  • Production of purchase specifications and related technical documents
  • Obtaining control system quotations and technical data from suppliers
  • Assisting with documentation and certification (CE and ATEX especially)
  • Develop equipment testing and maintenance procedures
  • Providing project/technical support to sales and marketing departments
  • Reviewing and assisting with technical sales proposals
  • Working with other designers/engineers on drilling control systems equipment
  • Modification and programming of PLCs (mainly Siemens S7)
  • Configuring HMI and database software (mainly Siemens WinCC)
  • General electrical and software engineering
  • Generating project plans
  • Co-ordinating with and managing vendors
  • Producing and updating drawings
    Customer support & training
  • Providing maintenance and remote support to clients
  • Other tasks as defined by management or directors from time to time

Requirements

  • Degree qualified
  • Significant experience in design, development and engineering of PLCs and SCADA control systems
  • Particular strength working with Siemens S7 PLCs
  • Significant experience working with various industrial networking and communications protocols – Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet, etc.
  • Knowledge of drilling equipment and components advantageous
  • Experience working in compliance with quality management systems
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and other relevant software
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role

Mechanical Engineer
Drilling Equipment

We’re currently on the lookout for a Mechanical Engineer expert in drilling equipment to support new drilling equipment projects and our drilling equipment repair and service business.

This individual will be responsible for providing expert engineering input to projects from proposal stage through planning, production and technical sign off.

The right candidate will be a drilling equipment subject matter expert with many years experience working with mud pumps, drawworks, top drives and pipe handling equipment. The individual will be used to delivering high quality work with attention to detail.

The role provides an opportunity for that person to make a mark for themselves as part of a growing business.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide technical input to proposals in support of sales team
  • Produce project work pack and work instruction content
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve drilling equipment faults
  • Provide technical support to workshop team in delivery of projects
  • Provide technical support to offshore team in delivery of projects
  • Complete engineering reports
  • Provide technical sign off on projects
  • Support development of technical library and business technical capability
  • Collaborate effectively with partners and vendors
  • Communicate effectively with customers and management
  • Support and mentor more junior colleagues

Requirements

  • Mechanical engineering qualification (degree qualified advantageous but not essential)

Mechanical Technician
Drilling Equipment

We’re currently on the look out for a Mechanical Technician experienced in working with NOV, Cameron or MH Wirth drilling equipment.

This individual will be responsible for mechanical and hydraulic service and repair of drilling equipment including mud pumps, top drives, drawworks and pipe handling equipment within a workshop environment and also offshore from time to time, as required.

The role will suit an individual who pays attention to detail and can deliver high quality work in a fast paced environment.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose drilling equipment issues
  • Service and repair equipment as required.
  • Interpret and complete both scheduled and unscheduled work orders
  • Test repaired equipment to verify proper maintenance
  • Create detailed service reports and maintain accurate records and paperwork
  • Ensure compliance with all QA/QC processes
  • Ensure that all health, safety and environmental policies are top priorities at all times
  • Other related duties as defined by management from time to time.
    Qualifications and Skills Required

Education and Training

  • Mechanical/hydraulic engineering qualification
  • OEM training in service and repair of mud pumps, drawworks, top drives and pipe handling equipment advantageous

Technical Requirements

  • Experience working with NOV, Cameron or MH Wirth drilling equipment including mud pumps, drawworks, top drives and pipe handling equipment is essential for this role
  • Experience interpreting and working with technical drawings
  • Experience using measuring equipment.
    Experience working with heavy equipment
