Research Vessel SPS, Mediterranean

Our team recently completed an interesting project in the Mediterranean, carrying out a programme of drilling equipment maintenance as part of a scientific research vessel’s special periodic survey (SPS). The vessel drills into the ocean floor to collect and study core samples. Scientists use the data to better understand climate change, geology and Earth’s history. It’s part of the International Ocean Discovery Program and is funded by the National Science Foundation. Our team carried out inspection and maintenance of the top drive, drawworks, mud pumps and travelling equipment. Well done to all those involved!
